VENILIL is a small hobby kennel located on the South East Coast of Attica, Porto Rafti in Greece.

Kennel of exclusively parti-coloured cockers, aiming for healthy, quality puppies, which combine the correct type and temperament of a true English Cocker Spaniel who can make either excellent family pets or show dogs.

Officially registered under the FCI and the Greek Kennel Club since 2007.

The prefix VENILIL comes from the combination of the pet names of our first litter. Venio + Lilly = Venilil.

We have never had more than 4 dogs at home, as we believe that dogs are firstly family pets who shouldn't live in kennels away from humans. Our ''kennel'' is nothing close to what the word kennel stands for. Both males and females live inside the house, together with the family, sharing every moment with us and they sleep in their own dog-room next to our kitchen! We are fortunate to live very close to the sea and the dogs enjoy it even more on a daily basis during the summer.

Our puppies are also born and reared inside the Venilil residence.

If you want to read more about our puppies philosophy, please check the Puppies page.

Lets get to know them a bit more...shall we ? :)

Lefteris Baroutsakis was born in 1963, in Greece, and ever since he was little, he was surrounded by all sorts of animals. However, his big love was always dogs.

His passion for aeroplanes led him to study as an Aircraft Engineer which was followed by a very successful career of 22 years for Olympic Airlines.

He first fell in love with the English Cocker Spaniel breed when he saw a black and white cocker for the very first time, back in the 80's, at his wife's family home in England. This cocker was a typical, old classic Cocker from the famous Craigleith Kennel, who immediately captured his heart and ever since, there has never been another breed that has all the same qualities as the English Cocker, to replace it.

It took a few years for him to own his very own Cocker Spaniel, and that was Oscar (Piff Paff Echo) in 1996, with whom he started to attend Dog Shows and learn more and more about the breed and the hobby.

He has been involved in the dog world ever since, and he is well known for helping newcomers and for importing Cockers from various countries and historical kennels such as: ''of Ware'', ''Cardamine'', ''Lynwater'' and many others, not only for him but for friends aswell. He was Treasurer and member of The Hellenic Spaniel Club & is member of The London Cocker Spaniel Society. To this day, he attends dog shows, mainly in Greece but in UK also.

Emily Baroutsaki was born in 1991, in Greece and has always shared the same love for animals, dogs especially, like her father.

Her other passion, for Graphic Design and Photography ,led her to study and graduate as an HND Graphic Designer in Athens and she now works as a freelancer based in UK since May 2013. One of her favourite subjects to work with are dogs (what a surpise!) therefore, she has been creating websites, ads, logos and photographs for many kennels.

She started attending dog shows in 1996, together with her father, where she discovered another great passion...Junior Handling! From 6 years old until the age of 18, she competed in Greece and other countries, and for 6 years in a row (or even more - track lost!) she was The Top Junior Handler in Greece! An unbreakable record so far.

Throughout these years and till today, her knowledge and skills of handling dogs and grooming English Cocker Spaniels have impressed even her greatest mentors of the breed. She has shown dogs around Europe with great success, winning very important titles, even with dogs that she hadn't met before! Moreover, she has written articles about The English Cocker Spaniel and Junior Handling in Greece.

Together, with their own breeding dog from their first litter: GR.SH CH Multi Winner Venilil White Knight, they have made history in the Greek Cockerworld as he has been (and still is) the most successful Greek Bred, English Cocker Spaniel, of all times!

Emily is currently taking a break from dog shows, but will be making special appearances from now on mostly in Uk, Greece and other European countries.
